Effective Email Marketing

Effective email marketing is all about being sure that you can get the right message to the right person in the right way. Most email marketing follows the following process:

  • Email Sent - Some emails are blocked by spam filters
  • Email gets through spam filters - Most will never be opened
  • Email gets opened - Most will never be read
  • Email is read - Most are never acted upon (clicked through to a website)
  • User clicks through to a website - Most never read the website..

...and so on. All we need is a simple way of ensuring that people buy what you're offering!

Firstly, you'll need to get your email subject line read. A great way to do this is to personalise the subject.

Likewise, mentioning a phrase like "Email Marketing Seminar" might make people wonder about it, but it would not be as effective as "Seminar: Email Marketing". This is because people firstly will be struck by curiosity... "ooh a seminar, what's that about?" then they will look for the detail, so you need to put the time and venue very close to the top.

Now we need to bear in mind that with email marketing, you have the issue of compatabilty. Many email browsers simply do not open picutres. This can be a problem if you use an image as a main call to action, like a "click here" button or a "buy now" image.
